Movie Review

I just finished watching National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. Running time: 122 minutes. Rated PG. In this edition we have Ben Gates (Cage) going off on another treasure hunt to prove that his ancestor Thomas Gates did not play a part in the assassination of Abe Lincoln, which happens to also be Ben Gates' favorite president. Along the way, it ultimately turns into a search for the Lost City of Gold. All the original players are back along with Helen Mirran as Gates' mother and Ed Harris' as Gates nemesis. There are the usual car chases, exciting discoveries, etc.

While I enjoyed the first National Treasure quite a bit, this one was just so-so. There wasn't near the excitement in the discoveries and it really seemed more of the same. It seemed to drag a big more than the first one. I would not be surprised to see a third installment at some point. This franchise has proven to be a movie maker for Disney. And Disney is all about making as many installments as they can of a franchise, whether good or bad.

Nicolas Cage is probably my least favorite actor. I cannot stand his acting and I never care for his movies. I think he alone can ruin a movie...just my opinion! It's nothing against him personally, I don't think. He is just a crappy actor!

I used to like him more than I do now. He's been disappointing in recent movies. Namely, Ghost Rider, The Wicker Man, Next, etc. His fake hair and teeth are annoying, too! LOL
