I just finished watching Semi-Pro, the latest Will Ferrell movie. Running time: 100 minutes. Rated R. This is the story of the Flint Tropics' bid to make it into the NBA when the ABA merged in the 70s. Jackie Moon (Farrell) is the owner/coach/player. He's a former pop star, also.Semi-Pro is pretty good, but not near as funny as Talladega Nights or Blades of Glory. Each of those get even better after mutliple watchings. Semi-Pro could get better with more watchings, too.
Farrell definitely rocks the fro throughout the movie. There are lots of fun 70s references and a nice soundtrack, especially the Jackie Moon hit "Love Me Sexy". I've included the video for it at the end of this post. There are some funny scenes, but the movie bogs down a bit in the middle. If you enjoy Will Farrell and the 70s, I'd say watch it. And as Jackie Moon says: ELE, Everybody Love Everybody!
