Off we went off the the first place, Louisiana Stone. I had been there on Thursday and they had received in some new Giallo Ornamental and New Venetian Gold, both colors I was interested in. After a lot of sweating and looking, I narrowed it down to a couple of choices and finally had them put a hold on one slab. I wasn't loving it but I liked it best of what I saw and they only had three in that group left. I was afraid if I didn't put a hold on it and then didn't find anything else, who knew when I could find another I liked. There were lots of people looking today. I overheard several people talking how they'd been looking weeks and months for granite. I'm at the end of my whole remodel. I don't want to wait weeks or months! So I put my hold on and headed to the next place.
While there I met my fabricator. I had spoken to him on the phone a few times and emailed several times, but he never actually met him. He was there to meet a client. So that was nice to be able to put a face with the voice. He asked how it was going and I said we were heading across the street to check out the other showrooms there. He suggested I check out Daltile, which I wasn't even thinking about since it's not right with the others.
So I head over to Daltile on my fabricator's suggestion. There were still three places right on the street I was on, but I decided to head straight to Daltile and check out what they had. Most of the showrooms close at 1:00 on Saturday and it was already 11:15. After I finally found Daltile (why is there more than one "Daltile" showroom in the same area??), I'm soooo glad I went there. I found my slab! Even before finding The One, I knew that I would end up picking something there that I liked soooo much more than what I had put on hold at Louisiana Stone.
At Louisiana Stone I had put on hold a slab of Santa Cecilia. It was pretty and I liked it, but I didn't love it and knew that I still wanted to look some more because if I didn't it would always be in the back of my mind that I should have at least looked at more places. My mind is crazy like that! Even if I end up going with my first choice, I've still got to look at the options!
Ultimately, at Daltile what I decided on was a beautiful, in my opinion, slab of New Venetian Gold. Because I was excited to have found something (and sweaty hot!) I totally forgot to take a picture of it! Here are a couple of generic pictures I found of the internet that sort of, kind of look like what I picked. Of course, mine will be sooo much better looking! LOL

It's lighter than the first picture and not as "peachy" as the second. It's probably closer to the first one, but with more cream to it and some of the black like the second picture.
The fabricator is going to come by either Monday evening (got two depos Monday) or Tuesday and do the templates and all the paperwork. Then after that it will be 4-7 days until installation!
The Giallo Ornamental is what I thought I would end up with. I had seen a couple of samples of it early on and seen some pictures of it. However, the Giallo Ornamental that is available at this time is either very gray or very brown. My second choice was the New Venetian Gold. It varies quite a bit, too. At Louisiana Stone, their New Venetian Gold was very brown and the colors were muted and muddy kind of, if that makes sense. That's why I picked the Santa Cecilia there. And while I liked it, I didn't love it. I like the colors in the Santa Cecilia granite, but it tends to have a pattern that runs very horizontal in it. Almost like lines on it, but messy lines. But the New Venetian Gold at Daltile was so pretty. They had just gotten a shipment in this morning and it was just what I was looking for! It's going to look great with the floors and the new cabinets and hopefully pull everything together. At least it's going to look that way in my head! :)
Brad has the kitchen cabinets all in. They look beautiful. I'll get some pictures tomorrow and post them. I've got to get my hardware figured out. It's really hard to open the drawers otherwise.
Then it's on to my office and painting! I've got the living room color picked out. Everyone will just have to see the finished product. And I've kind of decided on my office and bedroom colors. Everything is coming together and just about done. Brad thinks we will be done next week. Then he's on to see his Helper Hana and see what she's got in store for him. LOL Well, the construction part will be done next week. Then it's on to getting everything put back together and decorating and finding things for the house. Although, that will just happen over time and as I come across stuff....my budget can't afford anything else major right now!
And then this afternoon, for some crazy reason, we headed to Ikea. Yeah, I can't believe I went on the weekend either. Although, I don't know that I ever will again! I had to take some things back and exchange some doors that had some damage to them. It was crazy, crazy busy!! I think all of Frisco was there shopping. After I got all my exchanges done and went and got some cabinets I needed for my office, I went to get my car to park in the loading zone. As I was backing up, actually moving backwards into the parking space, two, yes, TWO, cars decided they could not wait for me to back into the space and cut between me and the space. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting them! It was insane!! And very irritating! I won't be going on a weekend again unless it's dire circumstances!
Then I came home and Brad was able to finish the kitchen all up with the doors i got. I can't wait for everyone to see it!

I am sure the granite is beautiful. Need some pictures of all the cabinets. Can't wait to see it in person.
