More Progress

First off, it's hot! This is from today in my car:

Here's a glimpse of the guest bathroom decor:

Master bath (you can see a bit of the wall color):

Office (work-in-progress, but you can see a bit of the wall color):

Living room (not sure about fireplace top color):

Columns:

Kitchen (just a little change from last post!):

I tried to get a good picture of the granite, but it's hard to get a true picture of it. I really like it and am very happy with it.
There's just bits of stuff to get done. It's all painted but my bedroom and part of the master bath. The countertop for my office should be in this week. The rest of the hardware in the kitchen and baths needs to be put on. All the crown and baseboards needs to be painted. Then just cleaning everything up! So by this time next week it should (hopefully) all be done! Then I can get all my stuff unpacked and figure out what all new furnishings I want! LOL

Making Progress

The granite guys will be out tomorrow morning to make the templates for my countertops! It's all coming together. I ordered my blinds today and my cabinet pulls and knobs. Hopefully the knobs will be here by the end of the week as it's really hard opening the doors/drawers otherwise.
So this is how the kitchen looks now. It's still got stuff everywhere, but it's soooooo much closer to being done than any time previously...and I have all my appliances back!!
you can kind of see some of the paint I've picked.

Here is my vanity now:
It is taller than the old one, but I think I'll end up liking it. Well, I guess I'll have to end up liking it! :)
Now I've got to get my office sketched out so it can be put together.
Hopefully soon I'll have some "finished" pictures to show.

One decision down....

Today I (along with my friend Mary Ann) went to look at granite for my countertops. I was hoping to find something I could live with and love. I had gone once before and was a little disappointed with the choices. So off I went to look at granite. First off, it's a hot endeavor! You're basically walking around a large warehouse looking at slabs of granite...non-air conditioned warehouses. So even while it was the morning, it was still hot.

Off we went off the the first place, Louisiana Stone. I had been there on Thursday and they had received in some new Giallo Ornamental and New Venetian Gold, both colors I was interested in. After a lot of sweating and looking, I narrowed it down to a couple of choices and finally had them put a hold on one slab. I wasn't loving it but I liked it best of what I saw and they only had three in that group left. I was afraid if I didn't put a hold on it and then didn't find anything else, who knew when I could find another I liked. There were lots of people looking today. I overheard several people talking how they'd been looking weeks and months for granite. I'm at the end of my whole remodel. I don't want to wait weeks or months! So I put my hold on and headed to the next place.

While there I met my fabricator. I had spoken to him on the phone a few times and emailed several times, but he never actually met him. He was there to meet a client. So that was nice to be able to put a face with the voice. He asked how it was going and I said we were heading across the street to check out the other showrooms there. He suggested I check out Daltile, which I wasn't even thinking about since it's not right with the others.

So I head over to Daltile on my fabricator's suggestion. There were still three places right on the street I was on, but I decided to head straight to Daltile and check out what they had. Most of the showrooms close at 1:00 on Saturday and it was already 11:15. After I finally found Daltile (why is there more than one "Daltile" showroom in the same area??), I'm soooo glad I went there. I found my slab! Even before finding The One, I knew that I would end up picking something there that I liked soooo much more than what I had put on hold at Louisiana Stone.

At Louisiana Stone I had put on hold a slab of Santa Cecilia. It was pretty and I liked it, but I didn't love it and knew that I still wanted to look some more because if I didn't it would always be in the back of my mind that I should have at least looked at more places. My mind is crazy like that! Even if I end up going with my first choice, I've still got to look at the options!

Ultimately, at Daltile what I decided on was a beautiful, in my opinion, slab of New Venetian Gold. Because I was excited to have found something (and sweaty hot!) I totally forgot to take a picture of it! Here are a couple of generic pictures I found of the internet that sort of, kind of look like what I picked. Of course, mine will be sooo much better looking! LOL

It's lighter than the first picture and not as "peachy" as the second. It's probably closer to the first one, but with more cream to it and some of the black like the second picture.

The fabricator is going to come by either Monday evening (got two depos Monday) or Tuesday and do the templates and all the paperwork. Then after that it will be 4-7 days until installation!

The Giallo Ornamental is what I thought I would end up with. I had seen a couple of samples of it early on and seen some pictures of it. However, the Giallo Ornamental that is available at this time is either very gray or very brown. My second choice was the New Venetian Gold. It varies quite a bit, too. At Louisiana Stone, their New Venetian Gold was very brown and the colors were muted and muddy kind of, if that makes sense. That's why I picked the Santa Cecilia there. And while I liked it, I didn't love it. I like the colors in the Santa Cecilia granite, but it tends to have a pattern that runs very horizontal in it. Almost like lines on it, but messy lines. But the New Venetian Gold at Daltile was so pretty. They had just gotten a shipment in this morning and it was just what I was looking for! It's going to look great with the floors and the new cabinets and hopefully pull everything together. At least it's going to look that way in my head! :)

Brad has the kitchen cabinets all in. They look beautiful. I'll get some pictures tomorrow and post them. I've got to get my hardware figured out. It's really hard to open the drawers otherwise.

Then it's on to my office and painting! I've got the living room color picked out. Everyone will just have to see the finished product. And I've kind of decided on my office and bedroom colors. Everything is coming together and just about done. Brad thinks we will be done next week. Then he's on to see his Helper Hana and see what she's got in store for him. LOL Well, the construction part will be done next week. Then it's on to getting everything put back together and decorating and finding things for the house. Although, that will just happen over time and as I come across stuff....my budget can't afford anything else major right now!

And then this afternoon, for some crazy reason, we headed to Ikea. Yeah, I can't believe I went on the weekend either. Although, I don't know that I ever will again! I had to take some things back and exchange some doors that had some damage to them. It was crazy, crazy busy!! I think all of Frisco was there shopping. After I got all my exchanges done and went and got some cabinets I needed for my office, I went to get my car to park in the loading zone. As I was backing up, actually moving backwards into the parking space, two, yes, TWO, cars decided they could not wait for me to back into the space and cut between me and the space. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting them! It was insane!! And very irritating! I won't be going on a weekend again unless it's dire circumstances!

Then I came home and Brad was able to finish the kitchen all up with the doors i got. I can't wait for everyone to see it!

More Choices....

Here are some of the pulls and knobs that I like. I'm trying to narrow it down. I am!

Again, there's just too many choices out there! And this isn't even all of them. I've just tried to narrow it down to these and these are in the price range I'm comfortable paying. LOL These things can get expensive!!
I went and looked at granite today. No luck in finding my perfect, or at least I can live with, granite countertops. It was either all too dark or too peachy or too gray or just not right. I did see one that I kind of liked, but of course it was on hold for someone else. More of that same type is supposed to be coming in at some point. They're going to let me know. And I'm going to go again on Friday and look at some different places. Hopefully I'll find one I like soon. Brad has almost all the cabinet boxes put together.
Off to Ikea tomorrow to get some stuff for my office/craft room. That room needs to get done pretty soon. I've got baby shower invites to make! LOL

Choices, choices, choices!!!

There are too many choices to be made! Every time I turn around I've got to decide on something else....paint colors; granite color, edge style; cabinet color, design; cabinet handles, pulls, knobs...it's never ending it seems.

So here are the granite colors I've narrowed it down to (I think!):
Santa Cecelia:

Giallo Ornamental:
New Venetian Gold:

Which do you like? I have my preference, which I'll keep to myself not to sway anyone.

Edge choices:
Again, I have my preference. How about yours?
I think I've decided on a paint color. I cannot post a picture of it because the Behr site won't let me save it. But I'll see if I can't send a link to it: Behr Paint Color I like the Oak Straw and Cozy Cottage. Then if you click the down arrow under the paint color, Mochochino comes up and I like it. My thought is to possibly do the Cozy Cottage throughout. On the columns and the beam running across the top there, do the Oak Straw or Mochachino and one of the two on the top of the fireplace. I did a sample of Oak Straw and I like it. It is darker than I thought I would go. But with all the light I have in my house now, it's not too bad. And, yes, I'm wimping out on doing one color (beige at that), but then I can use pillows, drapes, accessories to add color throughout. I also still want to do a green color on the backsplash. Again, choices!!
So that's it for now. Brad is working on putting the cabinets together. Hopefully I'll have pictures or videos to post by the end of the week.
Also, on Sunday went and saw The Full Monty at the Water Tower Theater in Addison. It was a birthday gift from my friend Mary Ann. It was very funny. And, yes, they did the "full monty" at the end just like in the movie....lol

Almost done

So here are some videos. I did one last week but it was 2 minutes and I never could get it to upload. So Courtney suggested I keep them short and they'd upload easier. Ignore the messiness of everything. It's eventually all going to be straightened up and clean!!

Fireplace (Brad built the surround!)

Kitchen:

Cabinets:

Cabinet doors:

Living Room:

Hallway to bath:

Hallway from Guest bath:

Guest Bath-1:

Guest Bath-2:

Master Bedroom:

Master Bathroom:

So there you have it. It's going to be a brand new old house! LOL

I'm hoping to have everything done and situated in time to have everybody over for one of the first Cowboys' game, like the second week. The first week is a night game.

It's been a while......like, an entire year!

Oh, my! It's been a year, yes, a year since my last post! Wow, time does fly!

I'm posting to show a video of my remodel that's currently going on. I hope to be finished soon. Probably could be finished soon if I could just make some decisions! Oh, the choices! And I'm horrible at picking paint colors. I have a whole wall of "sample" colors to prove it. And I have to get cabinets ordered. That's where I'm dragging my feet. It's just try to reconsile my wants with my budget. I'm getting there though and then this whole thing will be over. And I can have people over to see it!

So I took a video with my handy new phone and it's too large to just email, so here I am. On Blogger again, after a year, to share a video. LOL

Gotta work on taking videos!

And then here are a couple of shower curtains I saw today. I like the one in the middle on both.

I really like the one on the right. And it's not quite so bright in person. So I'm thinking I may do that one for my bedroom! I was thinking those colors maybe for the guest bath, but I really like it and want it in my bath! LOL The one on the left is kind of more neutral and light. Since that bath is small, I think it would look pretty to see it down the hall. And I'm thinking of using the lighter greenish color for the walls. There's a whole line of bath accessories to go with it, too.

So it's coming along. I just need to make some decisions. And I've been trying to, but I've also been busy with work and haven't been able to do any shopping and looking like I'd like to. Plus, if I could pick a paint that looked as good on the little sample at the store as it does on my walls, I'd have all my paint picked out!
